Use partition magic 8 or Buy a new hard drive?

I am willing to setup a dual boot on my PC. But my PC has only one C drive which is 20 GB. Windows 2k Pro and other programs have taken up 4GB currently. If i want to install RedHat 9 along with win2k in my PC, should i buy the parition magic 8 for $40(on sale) to do the partitioning, or a new 30GB hard drive for $50? How safe is to use Partition Magic 8? ( i heard that this program is pretty good, but not 100% sure) Thanks in advance.

Buy the hard disk. I would also suggest you buy a pair of drive trays. Put windows disk in one tray. Put linux disk in another. Plug in disk with OS of choice to boot.

Interesting since I haven't had DOS in many years but haven't had any problems running PM - but then I have fairly recent PM not some ancient copy.

How about downloading presizer from www.zeleps.com and saving the $?

it allows you to slide one drive out for another. sort of like swapping. some people prefer this over duel-booting. me, i prefer duel-booting, as i dont want to have to fiddle with hardware.

There _is no_ DOS on a Win2K system so it couldn't to DOS if it wanted to. Not sure what 'real mode' is.

.... in fact PM does run in real-mode, before nt boots into protected mode. you know, PM will say, the system must be restarted, then you see the text-mode version run before win2k boots.

No. It only boots in real-mode, as any x86 operating system does. But then it loads a protected-mode DOS extender to avoid the real-mode BIOS
