If you have read the very interesting discussion on Linux Hater’s Blog and the wise response of Jeremy Allison on his blog (sorry Jeremy it is a blog) you might have your own opinion by now.

Sure constant complaints about Linux mean there is a basic expectation that the operating system would work perfectly, that it would not settle for solving problems on a satisfactory way but that it would actually meat standards of excellence.

There is nothing wrong with it and in fact I agree with Jason that if such complaints are taken seriously and used to solve all the problem that are discussed on the blog the result would be a great OS much better than Linux today.

I can’t swear that the bloger on Linux hatred blog really loves Linux and that he just care too much but I know that detailed complaints can be used for improvements.

Is is not the Ego reaction of there is nothing wrong with Linux that would lead to new possibilities and new levels of professionalism it is the response of the eager to learn and to improve.

The difference between a good OS and a great OS lies in the details and the question is how much patience and endurance the type of free spirited students that develop Linux have to take it to an whole new level.
