It's hard to believe that when you do a strings all over every single .exe and .dll on Windows 98 and higher, the only binary that reproduces 'Regents of the University of California' is FTP.EXE. Time for the Regents to do a little ass-kicking up in Redmond. The BSDL specifically states that any code which is based on existing BSDL code should reproduce the license. Obviously, MS is subverting the BSDL. They very conveniently snipped out the license in their code. Who's to say they wouldn't do the same with GPL code?

Now we're going to hear Erik talk about how MS created a better implementation of the BSDL'd code they used, so therefore it isn't necessary to reproduce the license.

Someone once posted the diff between /etc/services of a BSD system and the sevices file of a MS OS. There was a single difference. The MS one had a copyright MS line. If there isn't GPL'd code in some MS SW I would be very surprised.

Erik is just a sad MS apologist. He does make cola a lot of fun
