and interested in open source purely for personal gain? It doesn't matter. People are getting involved with Darwin development, and it seems to be gaining popularity with the open source community. Whether or not Jobs is the next Mussolini is irrelevant. Where the water flows, the flowers grow. When Netscape started Mozilla, I wasn't allowed to say anything bad about Mozilla, and it was an open source project piloted by a commercial entity.

People may not like Steve Jobs, and have screwed up notions of MacOS X running on x86, however, these are the facts:

1. The average Mac customer does not need to face the daunting task of whether their graphics card, mouse, DVD etc will work with the latest version of MacOS. 2. Apple technical support is second to none. It puts Microsoft to shame. 3. He had the balls to pull Apple up, and push forward the development of an easy to use UNIX OS. Microsoft has JUST making noises about starting from scratch, 2 years after the initial release of MacOS X.

I don't think Jobs is evil. He may be an asshole, but not evil. If he were, we'd see more Macs in the market. Now Gates is the one to be wary of. Don't drop the bar of soap.
