My RH 8.0 rpm command seems crashed. When I typed the command itself, it works. However, when I tried to use the rpm -q, rpm -e and rpm -i option, it will hang there, no error message and no action. Look like it's waiting for something. Anyone got similar experience? How can I fix this?

When a program using BerkeleyDB (like rpm) terminates abnormaly it tends to leave a lock somewhere. Running db_recover in the /var/lib/rpm directory would clean up the lock. As there are several versions of BrekeleyDB installed on a RH system you have to pick the right version of db_recover which may be named db2_recover or db3_recover.
