Recently I’ve talked with quite a lot of people that have decided not to change their OS because of the difficulties to operates some of the software’s they need in Linux environment.
There is apperantly a growing interest in creating solutions and if you are thinking of an answer I found a post that might interest you.
The answer seems to be cross-platform virtualization and transitive:
Transitive does something quite interesting — they can dynamically translate from one machine architecture to another. This can be quite complementary to VMware and our flavor of virtualization. You can, for instance, take your apps compiled for the Solaris/SPARC platform, move them to your new x86 box running ESX and Linux and go to town.
Sounds too good to be true but it is about time that the needs of switching between OS are taken seriousely.
You can even address questions and clarification requests to their VP, just read the post for the accurate info.
