What is 'DrakX' and why does it want to know if I want to do a default or expert installation?
(Yes, I know, DrakX is the installer... but why is it called DrakX on the screen? Call it 'The installer'
Simon
ps. I'll post things like this as and when I find them.

More Mandrake oddities:
In the installer, there are only radio buttons. Which are used as check-boxes. Odd UI design choice; certainly at odds with over 20 years of the Apple Human User Interface Guidelines, and Xerox's research.

The distinct lack of a progress bar while formatting is HIGHLY annoying. All I know is that it will be done some time in the near future.

OK; the Mandrake installer also ignores mouse movement as a queue to the APM system on the laptop; so if you're not hitting the keyboard, the screen will blank.

Drakx stands for 'Disk Re-Allocation kit', it generally speaking refers mainly to the disk partitioning part.
Oh, on the subjects of names, why did they call it ActiveX? why not simply be honest and call it, 'security risk specially designed for the distruction of your computer'. Why call NT, NT? In all intensive purposes, if you take away the layers of compatibility crap, and exponsed the raw NT core, you could call it, after testing, Microsoft UNIX.

Why?
Checkboxes are used for flags; on or off. Ie: I want this, or I don't want this.
When you have a choice of one option from many, you use radio buttons: eg.
This is an example of what radio buttons are used for:
What color should this be? o Red o Green * Blue
... that is, one option excludes the other choices from the selection.
This is an example of what checkboxes are used for:
What would you like on your desktop? [ ] Cute fuzzy things [X] Not very cute hairy things [ ] Butt ugly hairless things
... that is, you canhy?

These guidelines have been in place for (at last count) around 23 years or so now. It's a standard. So why does mandrake present you with the following options:
Which partitions would you like to format?
o hda1 o hda2 o hda3 o hda4
Which partitions would you like to check for bad blocks?
o hda1 o hda2 o hda3 o hda4
