Just for the sake of argument, aren't mass-produced CDs and DVDs technically punchcards as well? Basically a CD is a round bunch card with an aluminum substrate which is 'punched' in during manufacturing.

Hmm, these puppies are rewritable. Sounds like the analogy to the punchcard is pretty tenuous. If they ever market these things, you can bet the word 'punchcard' will be entirely absent.

sad part is this is coming around because of the predicted 250GB size limet on standard magnetic harddrives so there are sevral things is dev. to replace magHD's once this happens
