Hip hip hooray!

What has been announced for years has finally made it to the outside world... the GNOME 2.0 platform is out, and already user software is starting to roll.

This feels fine somehow, even if it puts pressure on me because it means my deadline comes on top of me in two months...

On a related note: How do you people like GTK+ 2.0? I've been toying with it for the book, and it feels really sweet to program... You don't need half the functions shipping with it, because so much can be done with the standard GObject property mechanism. And no need to remember the argument order of dozens of constructors anymore

Yes. It's pretty. Pretty damn freaky. Why aren't they using C++ for this again?

And if that *is* C++, then why aren't they using the standard allocators again?
