I have a Knoppix disk that I burned from a download. It works fine. I want to redistrbute Knoppix with my own software. (This is kosher.) How do I convert the iso9660 image to regular files, add my own little directory, then reassemble the whole thing into a new CDR? I know how to make an ISO9660 file. I just don't know how to unmake one.

My alternative is to distribute two cdrs, but this seems like overkill.

I cannot remember the specifics but I was under the impression that you can just mount an ISO image as a loopback file system and then make any adjustments.

Also I have just done a google search (using the phase 'mounting an iso image'and come up with the a load of results, have a look at this one:-

Sorry, I should have had a closer look at some of the search results before posting, seems as though you can only mount a ISO image read only.

Most of the results say that you need to copy the files form the ISO image to a read write mount/partition and then recreate a new iso filesytem with your changes.

Sorry again.

If it's a KNOPPIX CD-ROM, then the ISO will probably contain a 'compressed loop' file system. You'll need a driver called cloop.o to read it.

The KNOPPIX guys have managed to include about 1.2GB of software on a 700MB CD-ROM.
