Hello, how do you convert an AVI (e.g. MPEG4) to an mpeg which would be read by any standard player (Quicktime Player, Windows Media Player)? What would you suggest?

Regards, j.

Hi J.!

Have a look at transcode:

It's a very powerful tool for converting all kinds of videos from all kinds of sources.

Hello, transcode did not work for me well. It does not take optional framerates, and my AVI is 9.87 fps (comes from a digital camera). After the adjustment of the fps with mencoder, transcode produced broken files. Obviously, some output of mencoder must be broken. I have succeeded finally to encode these files with mpeg tools, which spit out several error messages, but did a good job of creating the mpeg. There is a nice documentation of the mpeg_tools at http://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php? docid=3456&group_id=577...

Cheers,
